On the beautiful day of August 2, I joined a fellow artist, Linda Pelowski, to paint at an abandoned farm in northern Michigan. I have painted that farm on two other occasions. The first, had the buildings in better condition and a shed stood in front of this barn. The white house that is off to the left of this barn was still white and had its windows. I always hope someone can take over ownership and save these places. But, as the boards fall off, and a view peeks through those missing boards, another beautiful image appears. So, I paint. And I love to paint these places. I feel it preserves them for a time when they do not exist.

Beauty surrounds us, even as things change.
