The University of Michigan has its biological station on Douglas Lake, but also owns property at the entire north end of Burt Lake.  One can hike down into the "Gorge" as they call it. About 100 steps down, to where the springs bubble out of the ground and that cold fresh water flows in small streams and then forms a small river, flowing into Burt Lake.  It is a magical place to hike. The path is marked with arrow medallions on the trees.  It is a beautiful, peaceful walk along narrow paths and at this area, we cross over the river.  You should take that hike if you are in the area.

This painting was donated to the HouseN2Home program.
