Did you make a trip on this Labor Day weekend?

Dear Subscriber,

It is so relaxing to take the country roads to avoid the hustle along the busy freeways and city streets. Hustle is fine some days, but others I seek to just relax and enjoy the scenery.

This homestead, on the far north east side of Dexter,MI, was a site I had to paint. As I spoke with the owner for permission to park on the side of the road on their property, they said sure, have fun... We are out of power! I didn't need power. so I painted.and wished them well to get that power back on.

What is on your agenda for this weekend. I am going to Mackinac Island with my family and my sister and her family in from Seattle. How many times have we gone to the island....? I can't remember. So many decades of memories. How many times have I walked the Mackinaw Bridge on Labor Day. I would say at least 10. But not this year. It is a fun walk. We will just enjoy a more relaxing time. While on the island, some of us will ride bikes around the perimeter, some will play some type of miniature golf. Some of us will shop. I know we will have lunch, and maybe dinner together on the island before we head back to our cottage. I am taking my sketch pad and will move from place to place to do some ink drawings. The drawings are my "diary" of the day, having fun with family with everyone enjoying the beauty of the island in our own ways and together.

While up north, I just completed two more of the Louise Penny mysteries. Very compelling stories to read. Several books have been written about Mackinac Island. Some are mysteries, or tales of long ago adventures. The island is said to have some structures that are haunted. My daughter likes to visit those sites. A relaxing family trip. Fun to be together and catch up on our activities. May you have a wonderful weekend. I hope you have time off work to just relax and enjoy life.

All the best. Have a safe holiday weekend. Linda
